About Us
On July 22, 2008 we met for our first meeting at The Gilded Rose Tea Room in Northridge, CA . What began as an idea to create a professional association for California Tea Businesses grew to include the other Pacific States and then to the entire 13 Western States. Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington & Wyoming. It is our sincere hope that we can create a community of support for tea professionals and increase our contact with consumers to help them understand more about the exciting world of tea.
About WTBA
We are a non-profit association promoting member tea businesses and increasing awareness of specialty teas worldwide. Our members are committed to following the highest standards of purchasing, serving and promoting tea.
Benefits of Membership
• Business listing on WTBA website (permanent site now under development)
• Opportunity to participate in co-op advertising
• Group discounts to be negotiated by Executive Board
• Participation in a WTBA Members-Only Chat Rooms
• Ongoing development of consumer programs to increase awareness of specialty teas
Qualifications For Membership
• Currently owns a business that is predominantly identified with tea – or is committed to the process of creating a tea business.
• Tearooms with foodservice must offer a selection of specialty teas and train staff in proper preparation and serving techniques according to best practices.
• Tea business owners must have participated in industry training programs
• Must attend one WTBA meeting or event per year. (May include teleconferencing.)
• Remaining current with annual dues.
• Be sponsored by a WTBA member in good standing.
• Be approved by the WTBA membership committee.
